Buttock Augmentation

Buttock augmentation also known as gluteal implants or butt implants involves the surgical insertion of silicone gel implants into the buttocks to enhance the size and/or shape.

General Procedure 

The incision is made in the crease of the buttocks where the scar is less conspicuous. Then the doctor dissects creating a pocket large enough to insert the implants. The implants can be placed either under the gluteus maximus muscle, or on top.

After both implants have been inserted the doctor sees that both implants are symmetrical before closing the incisions with sutures. This procedure generally takes about 2 ½ hours.

Recovery Process 

Post-operative medications will be given for pain, as well as instructions. It is important that all instructions are followed to help insure a speedy and healthy recovery. Within a few days you can engage in limited activity still avoiding physical exertion for several weeks. In a week to ten days post-op the doctor will remove sutures. Initially you will have swelling that may last for several weeks and after that resides you will be able to see the results. Normal exercise and activities may be resumed within a month or two depending on the patient and techniques used.
