Acne Management

Acnizil is the natural choice for clearer skin.

Acnizil is a new nano-silver topical gel to help manage mild, moderate and severe acne. It can also be used during breakouts and flare ups, as well as for long-term management. Acnizil is a non-prescription topical hydrogel that is clinically proven to immediately and continuously kill the Propionibacterium acnes (P. acnes) bacteria.

Acnizil Benefits

  • Acnizil is non-irritating and safe for all skin types. It does not contain any peroxides, acids, parabens, alcohol, color or fragrances.
  • Acnizil can be used on both non-inflammatory and inflammatory skin breakouts.
  • Acnizil should be used for minimum of eight weeks before a response can be accurately assessed, although many people have reported results much more quickly.
  • Acnizil is NOT an antibiotic and will not cause bacterial resistance.
  • Acnizil is rapid and continuous bactericidal activity that does not build up resistance.
  • Acnizil can be used under make-up.
  • Acnizil is only available for point of sale through a healthcare professional.
  • Acnizil contains only three ingredients — Our Proprietary Silver Solution, Triethalomine (TEA) and Carbomer.

Airbrush Peel
A specialist in aesthetic medicine performing the airbrush peel procedure on a woman's face.

Airbrush Peel

Facial peels are traditionally done by applying a topical chemical that contains acids to help aid restoration and rejuvenation of the skin’s surface. These are messy and often do not leave the results anticipated by the patient. Dr. Gracia offers an alternative method, the Airbrush Peel.

How Does Airbrush Peel Work?

The Airbrush Peel is performed using a low setting with a fractionated CO2 laser. The laser peel accurately ablates the superficial layers of skin, causing peeling, and resulting in a fresh look with smoother skin.

How Long Does The Airbrush Peel Session Last?

Consider a lunch time Airbrush Peel, it only takes about 20 minutes.

Fractora Resurfacing PLUS
A very pretty middle-aged woman with smooth, soft skin caresses her cheek.

Fractora Resurfacing PLUS

Fractora fractional rejuvenation and resurfacing is an effective procedure to slow the effects of aging and restore your skin, so you can look and feel younger. It can improve fine or deep lines, texture, pigment irregularities, blood vessels and redness in a single treatment session through the resurfacing of the skin. In fact, Fractora offers improvements for aging skin that would normally require two, three or even four different technologies.

What Is The Aging Process of The Skin?

From as early as the age of twenty, skin cells turn over at a slower rate causing skin to appear dull and thinner. In addition, the skin structures responsible for keeping your skin firm (collagen and elastin), relax and become less elastic. This can cause wrinkles coupled with saggy, less-radiant skin.

What is The Benefit of Fractionated Energy?

Fractionated energy has been proven over the years to vastly improve the appearance of the aging skin. Fractora uses a metrix of micro pins to resurface the skin and provide superior results with minimal patient downtime.

Why Choose Fractora Resurfacing PLUS?

While there are other fractional resurfacing options available, most help to improve one or two symptoms of aging skin. Some are best suited for treating wrinkles while others improve texture or pigment. Fractora delivers improvements for the broadest range of symptoms of aging skin, all with one treatment.

Laser Skin Resurfacing
A cosmetic surgeon is applying laser resurfacing to a woman's face.

Laser Skin Resurfacing

Laser skin resurfacing is a procedure that uses lasers to create a new, smooth skin appearance. The laser “ablates”, or destroys, the outer layers of skin which have been damaged by age, sun, acne, wrinkles, or pigmentation problems or spots. The destruction of the older layers of skin prompts the body to generate a new layer of skin cells that are unaffected by the previous skin condition. Some lasers may be inappropriate for darker skin complexions.

Reasons for Considering Laser Skin Resurfacing
  • Reduce or remove facial wrinkles, creases, and lines.
  • Improve sun-damaged skin.
  • Correct pigmentation problems and spots.
  • Effectively treat scars from acne, birthmarks, moles, and tattoos.
  • Tighten skin that has lost elasticity due to aging.
How Laser Skin Resurfacing is Performed

First, the face is cleansed of oils in order to prepare for the laser procedure, and a numbing ointment is applied. The laser is then used to ablate various layers of skin in a controlled manner until the appropriate depth of skin is reached. This procedure is commonly performed with a local anesthetic, with or without sedation.

Recovering from Laser Skin Resurfacing

Generally, post-operative instructions call for plenty of rest and limited movement in order to speed up the healing process and recovery time. Antibiotic cream and bandages are applied to the affected area immediately following surgery in order to aid with the healing process, to minimize swelling, and to control the risk of infection. The skin will be red and may ooze. Some discomfort should also be expected.

Any pain associated with the surgery can be treated with oral medication. While complications are rare, patients can minimize potential problems by carefully following the post-operative directions. Recovery time varies with the extent of the resurfacing and the number of procedures completed.

Madonna Lift
A plastic surgeon stretching a woman's eyes.

Madonna Lift

Patients seeking an effective alternative to traditional eyelift surgery could be benenfit from the “Madonna Lift”. Through the use of fractional CO2 technology mainly used for laser skin resurfacing, a new fractional eyelift procedure, “The Madonna Lift” has been developed as a safe and effective alternative to traditional eyelid surgery. Fractional laser resurfacing has benefited millions of patients.

How Does Madonna Lift Work?

Fractional CO2 works by using laser beam-like columns, targeting a very specific area while leaving surrounding tissue intact. These beams eradicate damaged fibers in the skin and encourage new tissue with fresh elasticity to grow back in its place. Because the whole of the skin is not affected, healing is quick and far less painful than other procedures.

What Are The Benefits of Madonna Lift?

The Madonna fractional eyelift dramatically reduces the appearance of dark circles and eye wrinkles, tightens upper and lower eyelid skin, and helps to elevate drooping eyebrows. It has a number of the benefits of a surgical eyelift without the risks and downtime. The only problem it is unable to address is bulging fat pads.

What Is The Process for Madonna Lift?

Metal eye shields are used during treatment to protect a patient’s eyes from injury. The only anesthesia needed for the procedure is a numbing cream that is applied to the eyelids; as a result, downtime is minimal. (Some patients may prefer sedation, which is available upon request prior to the procedure).

How Many Madonna Lift Sessions Are Recommended?

In order to achieve the best results from the Madonna Lift, between three and five sessions, delivered at two to three week intervals are recommended.

Injectable Face Procedures We Perform

  • Botox
  • Lip Augmentation
Botox
A plastic surgeon injects botox into a man's smile lines.

Botox

Botox, the cosmetic, injectable version of the botulinum toxin, has become increasingly popular since it first burst on the scene. Over 10 million Botox procedures have been performed in the United States alone and its popularity seems to be continually on the rise as more and more people are coming to love this fast acting, virtually painless way to reduce those pesky common signs of aging.

How Does BOTOX® Work?

Botox works by temporarily paralyzing the muscles responsible for wrinkles and blocking the nerve impulses to reduce activity and create a smoother more youthful appearance. Administering Botox takes only a few minutes- so few in fact that many people even opt for a Botox touchup on their lunch breaks. The results, which generally last up to 4 months, are visible immediately.

What Areas Are Treated With Botox?

Common areas treated with Botox include the furrow lines of the brow and frown lines. Botox has also been effective in reducing excessive sweating, muscle spasms of the neck and eyes and in relieving migraines. Talk to your plastic surgeon to find out if Botox may be right for you.

Lip Augmentation
A plastic surgeon injects a woman's lips to increase their volume.

Lip Augmentation

Many women desire fuller, plump lips but few are born with them naturally. In addition, fuller lips help to decrease the appearance of fine lines and creases common around the lips. These days there are more options then ever when it comes to lip enhancement. From drug store lip plumping glosses to injectable treatments to implants, you need not look far to find a treatment suitable for achieving the full, luscious lips you desire.

What Are The Treatment Options for Lip Augmentation?

Some of the most popular options for lip augmentation include fat transfers and injectables like Juvederm. During a fat transfer lip augmentation, fat will be harvested from another area of the patient’s body. This fat will then be processed, purified and injected into the lips.

We offer several options for our patients to increase the size of their lips. Each lip augmentation treatment has its pros and cons. Discussing your options with your Plastic Surgeon is the best way to determine which treatment may be right for you. As with any procedure, there are some risks, which you should discuss with your Plastic Surgeon.

What Is Juvederm?

Juvederm is a dermal filler which uses a substance naturally found in our bodies called Hyaluronic Acid, to fill out wrinkles and folds, and plump up the lips. The injection takes only a few minutes to administer, but its effects will last for several months.

Surgical Face Procedures We Perform

  • Chin Augmentation
  • Ear Surgery
  • Eyelid Surgery
  • Cheek Implants
  • Facelift
  • Mole Removal
  • Rhinoplasty
Chin Augmentation
A beautiful young woman with soft, smooth skin smiles coquettishly.

Chin Augmentation

Chin implants are used to create a more aesthetic balance to the facial features. The chin and nose directly effect each other and one can cause the other too look disproportionate. A chin implant also helps to define the jaw line to create a more clear distinction between the chin and the neck. Often a chin implant may be performed in conjunction with other facial procedures such as rhinoplasty (nose surgery) or liposuction of the neck. Chin implants can increase facial harmony and boost self-confidence in people with a weak chin.

How Chin Augmentation is Performed

Chin implant surgery can be performed under local anesthesia with a sedative or under general anesthesia, depending on the patient and Plastic Surgeon’s preference. The incision may be made under the chin or inside of the mouth and the implant will be placed directly on the original chin bone. Any scarring will be hidden.

The procedure itself takes approximately 30 minutes to an hour. The chin implant size and shape will vary based on each patients inpidual needs. Sutures placed on the outside, on the skin, will be removed in 5 to 7 days, while intra-oral incision (inside the mouth) sutures will dissolve on their own.

Recovery and Risks

As with any surgical procedure, there are risks. Your Plastic Surgeon will go over these risks with you, but should you have any questions it is important that you ask them. There may be some dietary and activity restrictions following your procedure that you will need to follow while you heal to ensure a safe recovery. It’s normal to have some bruising around the chin and neck, have difficulty smiling and talking and to experience some slight swelling and discomfort around your face while you heal. Should you experience difficulty breathing or chest pains, you should seek medical attention immediately.

How Long Will It Take to See Results?

Your results will continue to evolve for several weeks and even months as you continue to heal. In most cases, the improvement is subtle but substantial, meaning others may not be able to pinpoint the change, but instead will be able to note an improved confidence and facial aesthetic.

Ear Surgery
A beautiful red-haired woman with her arm over her shoulder is turning to her left side.

Ear Surgery

Ears that are very large or stick out from the sides of the head can be improved to create a more normal ear aesthetic through Otoplasty. Otoplasty, or ear surgery, is a procedure which is generally performed on children in their childhood to early adolescence, but can certainly be performed on adults as well. It is typically performed on the child while they are still young in order to remove the threat of unnecessary years of teasing from other children.

When is The Best Time to Have an Ear Surgery?

The ears are fully developed around the ages of 4 or 5 and are then able to be re-molded to create the desired aesthetic. It is important that the child have the desire to make the change, as they will be more cooperative and enthusiastic about procedure both during process and as they achieve the final outcome.

About the Otoplasty (Ear Surgery) Procedure

The procedure, when done on a child, is usually performed under general anesthesia. Older patients may opt for local anesthesia with a sedative. This decision will be made between you and your Plastic Surgeon. The procedure will take anywhere from 2 to 3 hours. There are a couple different techniques used to create the desired aesthetic. A small incision may be made to the back of the ear which will expose the cartilage so that it can be re-sculpted into the desired shape and position. In some cases, a larger piece of the cartilage may be removed to create a more natural looking fold. In other cases, a similar incision may be made behind the ear and skin is removed. The stitches fold the cartilage onto itself in order to create the desired new shape, instead of taking out any ear cartilage.

The precise step-by-step of the procedure will vary depending on each patients inpidual needs and desired outcome. Typically, the procedure will leave a slight scar in the back of the ear which will fade in time. The patient will be bandaged and some minor aches and throbbing can be expected in the first few days of healing, but medicine can help relieve any pain. After a few days the inital bandages will be switched out for lighter bandages and the patient will have some activity restrictions to follow as they continue to heal.

Good Candidates for Ear Surgery

Ear surgery can be a wonderful, positive, lift-changing experience for some and can also improve other ear issues like stretched earlobes. As with all surgical procedures, there are risks and it’s important to know them. Good candidates for this procedure are in good health and have realistic expectations. Talk to your Plastic Surgeon to find out if ear surgery is right for you or your child.

Eyelid Surgery
A cosmetic surgeon stretches the skin around an older woman's left eye to compare it to her right eye with sagging skin.

Eyelid Surgery

As we age, our skin loses it’s elasticity, valuable fat and the muscles can begin to weaken and sag. All of these things work together to create an appearance that can look aged, sad or tired. Many people, men and women alike, have undergone blepharoplasty, or an eyelid Lift, to improve the appearance of their eyelids to create a more energetic and youthful look.

Eyelid Surgery Benefits

Let’s take a look at some of the common issues eyelid surgery addresses:

  • It removes excess skin from the lower eyelid.
  • It removes excess fatty deposits or puffiness in the upper eyelid.
  • It removes bags and droopiness in the lower eyelid.
  • It can improve visibility by removing excess sagging skin from the upper eyelid.
Good Candidates for Eyelid Surgery

Ideal candidates for eyelid surgery are in good physical health with no life-threatening illness, medical conditions or eye diseases. They should be non-smokers and have positive, realistic expectations for the outcome.

Eyelid Surgery Procedure

Let’s take a look at the procedure itself:

  1. First, anesthesia will be administered intravenously or through general anesthesia.
  2. The incisions for eyelid surgery will be hidden within your natural eyelid creases or done inside the lid.
  3. The procedure may be performed on the upper lids alone, the lower lids alone or on both the upper and lower eyelids together.
  4. Excess skin will be removed, and depending on the patients inpidual needs and goals, fat deposits will be repositions or removed, and muscles and tissue will be tightened.
  5. The incisions are closed with surgical tape, skin adhesives or removable or absorbable sutures.
  6. Results will be revealed gradually while you heal and the swelling and bruising of the procedure goes down.
Recovery and Risks

As with any surgical procedure, there are risks. It is important to know these risks and discuss them as well as any questions or concerns you may have with your Plastic Surgeon. Following the procedure, you will have certain restrictions to adhere to as you heal. If you experience any chest pain or shortness of breath, you would seek medical attention right away.

Cheek Implants
A beautiful woman with pronounced cheekbones and glowing skin.

Cheek Implants

Cheek implants are used to improve the contour of the face, particularly in men and women with long faces cheek implants can help to fill out the face. Additionally, as we age our skin looses its elasticity, as well as valuable fat, and muscles can begin to sag, all of which works together to create that sunken in appearance. Cheek implants will often be placed in conjunction with facial rejuvenation procedures such as a facelift to create a more smooth and youthful appearance.

What Is The Process for Cheek Implants?

Cheek implant surgery can be performed under local anesthesia with a sedative or under general anesthesia, depending on the patient and Plastic Surgeon’s preference. Generally, the incision is made inside the mouth, which means no visible scarring, and the implant is placed on or below the natural cheekbone. Implants will vary in size and shape to meet each patients individual goals. The procedure will take approximately 30 to 45 minutes when performed on its own, though it may be combined with other facial cosmetic procedures such as a brow lift, eyelid lift, or facelift.

Cheek Implants Benefits

Cheek implants can increase facial harmony and create a more aesthetic balance among your other facial features.

Recovery and Risks

As with any surgical procedure, there are risks. Your Plastic Surgeon will go over these risks with you, but should you have any questions it is important that you ask them. There will be some dietary and activity restrictions following your procedure that you will need to follow while you heal to ensure a safe recovery. You may have limited mobility in your mouth and lips immediately following the surgery and any stitches placed to close incisions in your mouth will dissolve on their own within 10 days.

Facelift
An older woman with soft, smooth skin.

Facelift

At our practice in Fort Worth, Facelift is one of Dr. Gracia’s favorite procedures. These days there are more options than ever before when it comes to facial rejuvenation, but still, one of the most popular and effective ways to bring youth back into the face remains to be facelift surgery. Facelift surgery, also known as rhytidectomy, is a cosmetic surgical procedure designed to lift the face to decrease common signs of aging in the areas of the face and neck.

Facelift Benefits

Let’s take a look at some of the issues which can be improved through facelift surgery:

  • It can improve the appearance of a double chin.
  • It can improve sagging caused by fallen or displaced fat.
  • It can improve the appearance of jowls.
  • It can minimize sagging throughout the middle of the face.
  • It can minimize deep creasing which appears from the nose down to the corners of the mouth.
  • It can minimize deep creasing under the lower eyelids.

Often times a facelift surgery may be done in conjunction with a brow lift or eyelid lift surgery for a more complete rejuvenation. It’s important to note that while a facelift surgery is one of the most comprehensive facial rejuvenation procedures, there are some things it will not change. Your fundamental appearance will not be altered through a facelift, nor will it keep your face from aging further in the future.

Are You a Good Candidate for Facelift?

Ideal candidates for a facelift procedure are in good physical and mental health, non-smokers, with a realistic expectation for the procedure outcome. As with all surgical procedures, there are risks which you should discuss in detail with your Plastic Surgeon. You should ask any and all questions and address your goals and concerns with your Plastic Surgeon in order to assure a safe procedure and positive outcome.

Facelift Procedure
  1. First comes the anesthesia which may be introduced intravenously or through general anesthesia.
  2. Next, the incision will be made. You may opt for a traditional facelift, in which the incision usually begins at the temples in the hairline and goes around the ear to end at the lower scalp. The fat will be re-sculpted or re-distributed, muscles of the face will be lifted and excess skin will be removed.
  3. During a limited incision facelift, the incisions are shorter and start at the temples, continue around the ear and possibly include the lower eyelids or upper lip. Additionally, a neck lift may be performed alone or in addition to one of the above to lift the skin of the jowls and neck with an incision that starts in front of the ear and wraps around to the lower scalp.
  4. The incisions are typically hidden in the hairline or in natural creases.
  5. As you heal, your results will be more and more revealed. The swelling and bruising will go down and you will be left with a well-rested, revitalized, and more youthful appearance.
How Much Does a Facelift Cost in Fort Worth?

The cost of the procedure can vary on a number of factors. As an experienced facelift Fort Worth surgeon, Dr. Gracia will meet with you in his office to discuss all options and pricing.

After Your Surgery

Following the procedure, during your recovery, it will be important to follow your Plastic Surgeon’s instructions and restrictions for optimal healing. It may take several months for incision line to fully mature and swelling to completely go down. You will need to continually be aware of staying protected from the sun. If you experience any shortness of breath or chest pain, seek medical attention immediately.

Mole Removal
A doctor is examining the moles on a young woman's back.

Mole Removal

Skin lesions (growths) appear in many shapes, sizes, colors and locations. The most common types of lesions are moles and keratoses. These lesions can be flat or raised. It is important to monitor changes in these growths such as change in size or color. If suspicious lesions are ignored these can sometimes develop into basal or squamous cell cancer.

Mole Removal General Procedure

These lesions are commonly removed in an office setting using a local injection and then sent to pathology. For larger or complex growths, the patient may be required to go a surgery center. In cases with suspicious or complex growths it is important to seek a qualified physician like a doctor that is board certified in plastic surgery.

Recovery Process

The procedure is generally done on a out-patient basis and requires no “down time”.

Rhinoplasty
A cosmetic surgeon measures the width of a blonde woman's nose.

Rhinoplasty

At our practice in Fort Worth, rhinoplasty or nose surgery are common procedures. Most people are unhappy with something about their physical appearance, for many of these people the subject of their grief is their nose. Nose dissatisfaction is generally pided into one of two parts: aesthetic or functional. On occasion, the dissatisfaction is equally distributed between the two. Rhinoplasty, or nose surgery, can improve almost any nose issue.

Rhinoplasty Benefits
  • It can create a more normal aesthetic and better functionality after trauma or injury.
  • It can adjust the size so that it is more proportionate to the other facial features.
  • It can adjust the width of the nose.
  • It can remove bumps and indentations.
  • It can adjust issues with the shape of the tip of the nose.
  • It can improve nostril size and shape.
  • It can realign the nose for better symmetry.
  • It can clear the airway of obstructions and abnormalities for easier breathing.
Good Candidates for Rhinoplasty

Nose surgery is best performed on patients 13 years and older who are in good physical and mental health, non-smokers and have realistic expectations for the procedure and its results.

Rhinoplasty Procedure
  1. Anesthesia will be administered either intravenously with sedation or through general anesthesia.
  2. Incisions will be made either inside of the nose (closed procedure) or across the narrow strip of tissue between the nostrils (open procedure).
  3. The nose will then be reshaped to the desired result, often through the use of cartilage grafted from another part of the body. If obstruction is the issue, the nose will be straightened and aligned to clear the airway.
  4. The incisions will be closed and the nose will be put in a splint.
  5. The swelling will continue to go down over the following weeks, though it may take up to a year for your final results to settle.
Recovery and Risks

As with all surgical procedures, there are risks and it’s important that you discuss these risks with your Plastic Surgeon. When you go home and as you continue to heal, you will have certain restrictions you will need to adhere to in order to ensure a safe and speedy recovery. If you experience any chest pain or shortness of breath, it is important to seek medical attention right away.
